We’re Having an Upgrade!
We are upgrading the pool roof.
While this work is being carried out, unfortunately, we will have to close the pool from October 21 2024 for approximately five weeks.
This work is crucial to the future sustainability of the centre, as it will allow us to add solar panels.
This work is being funded by a few funding providers including the Community Ownership Fund, The National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, the Community Action Fund, and the Swimming Pool Support Fund we are grateful for their support.
If you have any questions with regards to this please contact us, if you are a Quackers Swim School Parent you can contact DS Swim for updates about lessons.

Improved Access to the Hall
More building work is being carried out this week, we’re improving the access to the hall by knocking a opening into the wall just before the first set of doors in the corridor to the pool.
We apologise for any inconveniece this may have caused with accessing the pool, we appreciate your patience.
By improving access to the hall we are able to provide better support to the community with additional activities.

Coffee Morning Success
Thank you to all those who joined us for our Macmillan Coffee Morning and bought a hot drink or sweet treat!
We raised over £100 to support the amazing work they do for those with or in remission from cancer as well as their families.
Where does your money go?
Guidance and Growth CIC, a local community group, launched their woodwork workshop that is located in our basement, their aim is to support men’s mental health through gardening and woodworking.
Some of their workshop activity sessions are funded through Macmillian Cancer Support, if you’d like to find out more information about joining their sessions you can contact Guidance and Growth CIC by clicking here.
Their Facebook and Website can also be viewed by clicking on the links.

Staff changes
The last couple of months have seen a major staff restructure, with five long-standing members of staff either changing roles or being made redundant as part of our plan to ensure long-term sustainability.
Sue Ryder – General Manager: Sue has been with us for around 15 years and has seen the centre through many changes of CEO, COVID, and numerous financial and practical challenges. With decades of experience as a swim teacher, and lifeguard. and pool plant operator, she has ensured that the Centre and the swimming pool operate safely and efficiently. Sue remains in a part-time role at TLC as Pool Plant Manager and teaching with Quackers for DSSwim.
Julie Matthews – Full-time Duty Manager: Julie kept things running smoothly in the evenings and weekends for the last eight years. She also remains with us as a part-time Pool Plant Operator, working around teaching for Quackers and helping with the West Area Project.
Adam Smith – Part-Time Duty Manager: Adam has been with us for the last few years whilst doing a PhD at the University of Nottingham. He leaves us in October to pursue his medical career but remains a part of Robin Hood Lifesavers and will provide his pool plant expertise as a volunteer.
Russell Jays – Part-Time Duty Manager: Russell brought his smiley face and pool plant expertise. He remains in his main job at Emtel and will stick around for cover and moral support for the staff!
Claudette Thompson-Smith – Part-Time Duty Manager: Claudette has been with us for 12 years and reduced her hours a few months ago to start working for the West Area Project, so she remains working in the building.
We are very grateful to all these staff for their years of dedication and their ongoing commitment to TLC and are glad that we are not losing anyone completely.
